TrackPro

Total development time was approximately 3 weeks, though the application was thoroughly field tested for several months at tracks across the country.

TrackPro

Innovative Automotive Products contracted Mike to create the TrackPro iPhone application with the help of a professional driver.

TrackPro uses the iPhone's built-in GPS to accurately record lap times at over 80 North American tracks. The main challenge of this project was designing the application so that drivers never need to take their hands off the wheel. TrackPro automatically detects which track they're running and starts the lap timer when the car has accelerated to 20 mph. Every time the car crosses the start/finish line, the elapsed time, top speed, and average speed for the lap are automatically recorded in a lapping session. When the car comes to a stop, the end of a session is recorded. A full history of events, sessions, and laps are saved and easily exported so drivers can save their sessions to their desktop and compare your historical results.

This application makes extensive use of Core Location to record laps and plot a track map, as well as Core Data to save all the collected data. Track updates are automatically synchronized from a web service.
